What we collect

When you connect Strava we read your running activities: time, distance, elevation, heart rate and GPS traces, plus your activity names and dates. We use them to fit a model of your fitness. We also store your email address if you buy a plan, and the race you selected.

What we do with it

We compute your pace–duration curve, your heat sensitivity, and your race-day prediction. Nothing else. Your data is shown only to you. We do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and we never use one athlete's data to train models for another — population values in our models come from published sport-science literature.

What we store, and where

Derived model files (your fitted curve, detected races, entitlements) live on a server in London, run by Fly.io. We keep your Strava access credentials so we can refresh your data; we do not keep copies of your raw activity streams beyond what the fit needs. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo, keyed by race location and date only.

Who else touches it

Strava (source of your activity data), Fly.io (hosting), Cloudflare (website delivery and email routing), Stripe (payments — they handle card details, we never see them), and FormSubmit (beta signup form). Each processes data on our instructions only.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Inactive accounts are removed after 24 months.

Your rights

You can delete everything at any time: in the app, open My races → Your data → Delete my data. That erases what we hold and revokes our Strava access in the same action. You can also disconnect PaceCast from your Strava settings directly. For a copy of your data, or any question about it, email [email protected] — under UK/EU data protection law you have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your data, and to complain to the ICO.

Cookies

The website sets no tracking cookies. The app stores your session token in your browser so you stay signed in, and the API sets one short-lived cookie during Strava sign-in to keep the login secure.

Not medical advice

PaceCast gives pacing and fuelling guidance for healthy adults doing endurance events. It is not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before a big change in training or nutrition.
